A story of Leaves
Leaves most brilliant
grace my garden,
gifts of colour
that gladden the soul
in a decaying world.
Life is fragile
uncertain
Seasons of birth
growth
decay.
Like the leaf
unfurling in spring
bursting with life
offering shade and beauty.
But seasons change.
There is a letting go
a shifting, a noticing
even an embracing
with thankfulness of what was
acknowledging the challenges
the wind, the heat, the storms
the weathering
and like that leaf
we emerge,
life’s lines upon our faces
telling a story
colourful
full of beauty
wiser and perhaps sadder
and ultimately thankful
for the gift of life.
