Beauty in Chaos

Ripped apart by chaos,
Hard to breathe
dust and debris
a tearing down
Mess everywhere
My heart torn too
Ripped at the pain of others
Confusion on so many levels
Caring for our loved one
Where confusion often
Overtakes reality.
And then we watch the news.
Weeping for the displaced
The hungry
The broken
The grieving
Victims of war.
And don’t get me started
On the pain of the rejected
The plight of the homeless
The confusion of the mentally ill
The addicted and those who
prosper from their misery.
Helpless I pray
Oh God have mercy.
And I find glimmers of joy
In a lawn littered with dandelions
Sunny daffodils brightening my yard
Hills of balsam root daisies
Colouring the hills with yellow.

Daffodils

Daffodils

I see the kindness of others
The generosity
The dedication of helpers
The laughter of a child.
I catch a glimpse of the moon shrouded
In cloud
Hanging above my bedroom window
Reminding me
Of the One who loves us
Who walks beside us
Who holds our tears
And collects them in a bottle.
