Rushing to enjoy Summer
I enjoy the challenge of painting every day I can, and the World Watercolour Month in July provides prompts to inspire.
Today’s prompt was rush, how do you paint that? But it got me to thinking about my own state of mind.
These official months of summer can fly by, there is so much to do, so much I WANT to do, and I can almost panic, wanting to relax and enjoy it ALL. Silly, I know!
But I want to take it all in, the festivals, the markets, the outdoor concerts, while enjoying my own yard, sitting in my deck, reading, enjoying the sunsets, and conversations with my hubby. And then I want to paint everyday.
This along with everyday life, commitments, meaningful work, time with family!
Balance is a funny thing, and the older I get I realize I have to choose wisely, I just don’t have the energy to do it all. So it involves careful planning, conversations with my hubby about priorities, and some letting go.
We all have the same 24 hours a day, but not all have the same energy or time.
So I pray for wisdom, and joy in the moments.
Yesterday we attended a fun Canada 🇨🇦 Day party, I had looked forward to it all day. I didn’t get to the Canada Day celebrations in the park, I didn’t even get to the market. And that was ok.
So I will try to stop rushing (in my mind anyway) to enjoy summer. The days will unfold as they will, flying by much too fast, as usual. And I will make a conscious effort to slow down and enjoy the moments I am part of.
And how did I paint “rush”? I found a flower by that name… 😊
